A B R E G E L'invention concerne un nouveau produit composite catalytique destiné à la mise en oeuvre d'un procédé en lit fixe d'adoucissement des mercaptans contenus dans les coupes pétrolières, ce produit composite étant caractérisé en ce qu'il contient entre 0,05 et 5 % en poids de chélate métallique par gramme de composite, entre 5 et 35 % en poids de carbone pyrolysé, et une matrice minérale représentant 60 à 90 % en poids du composite. Le support est obtenu par pyrolyse ménagée des concentrats de lavage des laines brutes destinées à l'industrie textile.
