ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE In the selective cracking or hydrocracking of normal and slightly (methyl) branched paraffins by contacting petro- leum stocks containing such with a crystalline aluminosilicate zeolite catalyst having a high silica to alumine ratio of at least 12 and a constraint index of about 1-12 at elevated temperature, and hydrogen pressure if required, the improve- ment or using the zeolite catalyst in a microcrystalline form having a maximum crystal size of about 0.05 microns (??) whereby not only is the catalytic activity increased but the catalyst aging rate is decreased and the product distribution is varied.
