CATALYTIC HYDROTREATING OF HYDROCARBONS WITH CATALYST REGENERATION ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A catalyst regeneration process is described for hydrotreating catalysts. The regeneration is carried out by passing a product gas stream from a catalytic hydro- treating operation over a catalyst fouled by carbonaceous or coke deposits. The product gas stream is utilized in the form in which it is separated from the hydrotreating operation and includes hydrogen, light hydrocarbons and a sulphurous component such as hydrogen sulphide. This provides an inexpensive regenerating technique which keeps the catalyst in its operational sulphided state throughout the regeneration.
