PRECIS DE LA DIVULGATION L'invention concerne un procédé catalytique de production de soufre à partir d'un gaz acide renfermant de l'H2S, dans lequel le gaz acide est soumis à une oxydation catalytique en stoechiométrie CLAUS puis à une phase de réaction CLAUS catalytique avec dépôt de soufre sur le catalyseur avec régénération périodique du catalyseur chargé de soufre puis refroidissement du catalyseur régénéré. Le gaz utilisé pour la régénération puis le refroidissement est prélevé sur le gaz acide amené à l'oxydation catalytique et le gaz issu de la régénération est réintroduit dans ledit gaz acide, après séparation du soufre qu'il contient. Ce procédé est utile pour le traitement de gaz acides pauvres en H2S.
