ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Cyclic carbonates are manufactured from oxiranes, such as methyl oxirane (propylene oxide), and heterocumu- lenes, such as carbon dioxide, in the presence of a catalytic system. The catalytic system is a combination of a Group IVB or VB transition metal complex and a Lewis base, such as a bromide ion.
