ABSTRACT A process for catalytic wet air oxidation. This process for treatment of wastewater to oxidize organic compounds, such as phenols, dioxins or furans, comprises the use of hydrogen peroxide in the presence of an insoluble metal catalyst on an insoluble support. The insoluble metal catalyst can be a compound of iron, copper, manganese or other transition metal. The process provides for complete oxidation of the organic compounds and avoids partial oxidation products.
