ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Delignification and bleaching of lignocellulosic material is obtained with catalyzed hydrogen peroxide in alkaline medium. The action of the peroxide on the cellulosic material is catalyzed with a salt of a metal taken from the group consisting of aluminum, zinc, molyb- denum and tin, the concentration of the metal salt being in excess of 0.01% by weight of the cellulosic material.
