A catapult assembly includes a launching pouch, tensioning means for the pouch, a carriage movable between first and second positions, means for connecting the pouch to the carriage at or near the first position, means for drawing the connected pouch and carriage to or near the second position. while tensioning the tensioning means, means for automatically feeding a retrieving object into the pouch when at or near the second position, and release means for disconnecting the pouch from the carriage. A game casing is adapted to embrace an item of gaine, the casing including a cylinder of chosen length containing an opening along substantially the length, the opening being adapted to enlarge by flexing of the cylinder to enable the item of game located in the cylinder to be launched from the game casing. A retrieving dummy has an elongated body, the body having at one end a nose being at least partly tapered and at the opposite end one or more fins or flights, the dummy having a centre of gravity located closer to the nose than the fins or flights.
