A catch basin trap comprises a water and gas imperious shell having a hollow body with an upper end and a lower end, and a perimeter. At least the upper portion of the perimeter is in a single vertical plane and is provided with a gas and water tight gasket. The trap has a vertical outer wall that is provided with a vertically oriented aperture for the flow of sewage wherein said gasket is affixed to a perimeter flange of uniform width extending from the perimeter of said body.
