This invention relates to a novel class of compounds, represented by the formula (I) below, wherein the meanings of Rl, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7, X and Y are indicated therein, which are cysteine protease inhibitors, including but not limited to, inhibitors of cathepsms K L, S and B These compounds are useful for treating diseases in which inhibition of bone resorption is indicated, such as osteoporosis, osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis

Cette invention concerne une nouvelle classe de composés représentés par la formule (I) ci-après. Dans cette formule, Rl, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7, X et Y, dont la signification est indiquée dans le descriptif, sont des inhibiteurs des cystéine protéases et comprennent notamment, mais pas exclusivement, des inhibiteurs de cathepsms K L, S et B.
