Introducer sheath having a flexible kink-resistant distal tip portion. A multilayer sheath structure is used, with an inner tube such as PTFE having a coil of wire wound therearound. A first length of outer tubing such as of nylon is inserted over most of the coil-wound inner tube in a manner exposing a distal length of coil-wound inner tube. A second length of outer tubing with a softer durometer than first outer tubing length is inserted over the exposed coil-wound inner tube and extends for a slight distance beyond the end of the coil. During heat application, the outer tubing lengths are melted to bond to each other and to flow between the spacings of the coil turns to bond to the roughened outer surface of the inner tube. The distal tip region corresponding to the second tubing length is flexible and is kink-resistant due to the coil.
L'invention concerne une gaine d'introduction (10, 30, 40) pourvue d'une partie d'extrémité distale, souple et résistante aux déformations (26, 32, 42). Une structure de gaine à couches multiples est utilisée conjointement avec un tube interne (12) tel que du PTFE pourvu d'une bobine (14) de fil étant enroulée autour du tube. Une première longueur de tubage extérieur (20) tel que du nylon est introduite sur une grande partie du tube intérieur à bobine enroulée de manière à exposer une longueur distale du tube intérieur à bobine enroulée. Une seconde longueur de tubage extérieur (22) dotée d'un duromètre plus mou que celui de la première longueur de tubage extérieur (20) est introduite sur le tube interne, exposé à bobine enroulée et s'étend sur une petite distance au-delà de l'extrémité de la bobine. Au cours d'une application thermique, les longueurs du tubage extérieur (20, 22) sont fondues afin de se lier et de passer entre les espacements des spires de bobine afin de se lier à la surface extérieure rugueuse du tube intérieur (12). La région d'extrémité distale correspondant à la seconde longueur de tubage est souple et résistante aux déformations grâce à la bobine.
