A securement device is provided for securing a catheter to a patient's skin. An elongated handle member is used to align and apply the device to the patient's skin. A cover dressing is releasably attached to the handle member and has a covering side configured for placement against the patient's skin to cover at least the entry wound created by the catheter. The holder includes a securing member with a first side having an adhesive thereon for securing to the patient's skin adjacent to the point of entry of the catheter through the skin. The securing member includes an opening therethrough to allow a protrusion or portion of the catheter to extend therethrough while the first side of the securing member adheres the catheter to the patient's skin on opposite sides of the opening. The cover dressing is foldable over the securing member along a hinge section between the securing member and the cover dressing. Once the first side of the securing member is pressed over the catheter and against the patient's skin adjacent to the insertion point or wound site, the handle member is used to pull and fold the cover dressing at the hinge section so that the cover dressing folds over the securing member and covers the insertion wound through the patient's skin.
L'invention concerne un dispositif de fixation destiné à fixer un cathéter à la peau d'un patient. On utilise un élément manche allongé pour aligner et appliquer le dispositif sur la peau du patient. Un sparadrap de couverture, fixé amovible à l'élément manche, possède un côté de couverture configuré pour être placé contre la peau du patient et recouvrir au moins la blessure d'entrée créée par le cathéter. Le support comprend un élément de fixation possédant un premier côté muni d'un adhésif et destiné à la fixation à la peau du patient à côté du point d'entrée du cathéter dans la peau. L'élément de fixation comporte une ouverture traversante qui permet à une protubérance ou à une partie du cathéter de passer à travers, le premier côté de l'élément de fixation faisant adhérer le cathéter à la peau du patient sur les côtés opposés de l'ouverture. Le sparadrap de couverture peut se replier sur l'élément de fixation autour d'une partie charnière comprise entre l'élément de fixation et le sparadrap de couverture. Une fois le premier côté de l'élément de fixation comprimé au-dessus du cathéter et sur la peau du patient, à côté du point d'insertion ou du site de la blessure, on utilise l'élément manche pour tirer et replier le sparadrap de couverture au niveau de la partie charnière, de manière à ce que le sparadrap de couverture se replie sur l'élément de fixation et recouvre la blessure d'insertion faite dans la peau du patient.
