A catheter facilitating traversal of restrictions in body conduits (12) includes a shaft (21) having a distal tip (27) with a shape that is non- conical, radially twisted, and rectangular in radial cross section. An outer surface of the tip includes at least one side section extending from a blunt point radially outwardly with progressive positions proximally along an axis of the tip. The side section includes a proximal portion in proximity to the shaft, and a distal portion twisted radially with respect to the proximal portion. The catheter can be adapted for placement over a guidewire and can be made transparent thereby facilitating visualization through an endoscope in the catheter.

La présente invention a trait à un cathéter facilitant le passage à travers des obstructions dans des conduits corporels (12) comporte une tige (21) comprenant une extrémité distale (27) ayant une forme non tronconique, en hélice radiale, et rectangulaire en section radiale. Une surface extérieure de l'extrémité comporte au moins une section latérale de prolongement radial vers l'extérieur depuis un point aplati avec des positions graduelles vers l'extrémité proximale selon un axe de l'extrémité. La section latérale comporte une portion proximale proche de la tige, et une portion distale en hélice radiale par rapport à la portion proximale. Le cathéter peut être adapté pour être positionné sur un fil-guide et peut être rendu transparent facilitant ainsi la visualisation à travers un endoscope dans le cathéter.
