A flexible elongate probe (20) having a longitudinal axis (22) and a distal end (28), the probe enclosing and defining a lumen (24) for receiving and riding over a guide wire (26), characterized in that the lumen is located other than along the longitudinal axis. Preferably, the lumen passes through the probe obliquely with respect to the longitudinal axis, adjacent to the distal end of the probe. Preferably, the probe includes a sensor (30) adjacent its distal end and a deflection mechanism (31) for deflecting the distal end of the probe after withdrawal of the guide wire.

On décrit une sonde (20) allongée souple qui présente un axe longitudinal (22) et une extrémité distale (28), cette sonde intégrant et définissant une lumière (24) destinée à recevoir et à faire avancer un fil de guidage (26); ladite sonde se caractérisant par le fait que la lumière se situe ailleurs que sur l'axe longitudinal. La lumière traverse de préférence la sonde obliquement par rapport à l'axe longitudinal, à proximité de l'extrémité distale de la sonde. La sonde comprend de préférence un capteur (30) situé adjacent à son extrémité distale et un mécanisme (31) de déviation qui dévie l'extrémité distale de la sonde après le retrait du fil de guidage.
