ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A cathode ray tube apparatus having a glass panel in front of the phosphor screen made of a material which has an X-ray absorption coefficient larger than that of the backing on which the phosphor layer is applied. The two panels are separated by means of a spacer and a liquid coolant is incorporated into the space between the panels to enhance the heat radiation effect of the phosphor surface and to avoid the radiation of X-rays.
