20104-8410 ABSTRACT: Cathode ray tube and device for projection television provided with such a tube. Cathode ray tube provided with a luminiscent screen which is suitable for screen loads of more than 0.05 W/cm2, particularly tubes for projection television. The luminescent screen comprises a blue luminescing ZnS activated by Ag and co- activated by one or more of the elements Cl, Br, I, F, Al, Ga and In. Up to 20 mol% of the Zn may be replaced by Cd and up to 20 mol% of the S may be replaced by one or more of the elements Se and Te. The ZnS has the hexagonal crystal structure of wurtzite.
