ABSTRACT: 9 In a cathode ray tube, in particular a tele- vision camera tube, a getter is assembled so as to be thermally independent of the electron gun and may be pro- vided with any desired electric potential. The getter is positioned in a tubular envelope portion of the tube by means of a supportion member which bears on a supporting edge in the envelope. The supporting edge is formed by a substantially stepwise reduction of the internal trans- verse dimension of the envelope portion. The supporting member comprises an inner ring which is connected to an outer ring in a restricted number of places. In the cir- cumferential direction the inner ring and the outer ring show an interruption so as to counteract excessive heating of said rings during an inductive heating of the getter. Metal strips which support the getter are connected to the inner ring. The supporting construction is excellently suitable for use in comparatively small cathode ray tubes.
