An apparatus and method for prevention of migration of mobile ions in a gyroscope. A dielectric barrier material layer is placed between a gyroscope body and one or more gyroscope components. The dielectric barrier material layer reduces the electric field formed in the gyroscope block, and thus reduces ion migration therein. The material may prevent mobile ions from reaching the cathode seal.

Cette invention a trait à un appareil ainsi qu'à la technique correspondante visant à empêcher la migration d'ions mobiles dans un gyroscope. Une couche de matériau diélectrique formant barrière vient s'intercaler entre le corps du gyroscope et un ou plusieurs constituants du gyroscope. Cette couche de matériau diélectrique formant barrière réduit le champ électrique formé dans le bloc gyroscope et, partant, réduit la migration ionique dans celui-ci. Ce matériau permet d'éviter que des ions mobiles n'atteignent l'élément d'étanchéité de la cathode.
