The invention provides cathodic electrocoat compositions having a carbamate functional resin with a cationic salting site, a crosslinking agent reactive with the carbamate functional resin and a carbonate curing agent. The invention also provides methods of cathodically electrodepositing a coating on a substrate using the coating compositions of the invention. The compositions of the invention provide urethane crosslinking sites without the use of disadvantageous blocked isocyanates and cure at temperatures lower than prior art cathodic electrocoat compositions.
Cette invention a trait à des compositions de revêtement électrolytique cathodique possédant une résine carbamate fonctionnelle avec un site salifiant cationique, un agent de réticulation réagissant avec la résine carbamate fonctionnelle et un agent de durcissement carbonate. L'invention porte également sur des procédés d'électrodéposition par voie cathodique d'un revêtement sur un substrat à l'aide des compositions susmentionnées. Ces compositions, qui offrent des sites de réticulation de l'uréthanne sans que l'on ait à recourir à des isocyanates inhibés présentant des désavantages, permettent une prise à des températures inférieures à celles qu'exigent les compositions de revêtement électrolytiques cathodiques relevant des techniques existantes.
