ABSTRACT CATION EXCHANGE MEMBRANES Cation exchange membranes which are derived from aryl ether polymers wherein at least a portion of the aromatic rings are bound into the polymer backbone by two ether linkages and which bear a sulphonic acid derivative are more chemically stable than conventional cation exchange membranes and may be used in electrodialysis systems.
