Le matériau selon l'invention est caractérisé par le fait qu'il comprend un support constitué d'un oxyde minéral poreux ayant une surface interne inférieure ou égale à 100 m2/g et un diamètre poreux supérieur ou égal à 25 nm, le support étant revêtu directement sur sa surface par un polymère poly- saccharidique aminé porteur de charges positives; ce polymère a un poids moléculaire supérieur ou égal à 104 daltons. Le matériau selon l'invention est particulièrement utile à la purification ou à la séparation des macromolécules biologiques, notamment de protéines.
