PRECIS DE LA DIVULGATION: La présente invention concerne un procédé de traitement d'un polysilazane, caractérisé en ce qu'on traite catalytiquement en présence d'une quantité catalytiquement efficace d'un catalyseur acide organique ou minéral fort; un polysilazane présentant en moyenne au moins 2, de préférence au moins 3 groupes ? SiH par molécules, les autres radicaux organiques liés aux atomes de silicium ou d'azote étant des radicaux hydrocarbonés exempts d'insaturations alcèniques ou alcyniques. Les polysilazanes ainsi traités présentent une tenue thermique élevée et sont utilisables notamment comme précurseurs de produits céramiques avec un rendement en produit minéral élevé. L'invention concerne également les polysilazanes obtenus par la mise en oeuvre du procédé ci- dessus mentionné.
