A cautery catheter is described having an expandable and electrically conductive mesh that can cauterize treatment sites having large effective surface areas. The mesh is composed of interwoven filaments which are aligned with the cautery catheter in an unexpanded state. Reorientation of the filaments of the mesh enables expansion of the mesh. When the expanded mesh contacts the desired treatment area, an electrocautery unit supplies electrical energy to the filaments of expanded mesh to cauterize the treatment site.
L~invention concerne un cathéter de cautérisation ayant un maillage extensible et conducteur électriquement, permettant de cautériser les sites de traitement présentant de grandes superficies effectives. Le maillage se compose de filaments entrelacés qui sont alignés avec le cathéter de cautérisation en condition non déployée. La réorientation des filaments du maillage permet l~expansion du maillage. Lorsque le maillage dilaté vient au contact de la zone de traitement désirée, une unité d~électrocautérisation fournit de l~électricité aux filaments du maillage déployé afin de cautériser le site de traitement.
