ABSTRACT In a cavity window containing the Venetian blind with horizontal slats which can be oriented between a horizontal position allowing unimpeded vision and a near-vertical screening position, rotation of the slats between the two said positions is controlled and obtained by means of a control mechanism which can be manually and mechanically operated from the outside and which causes operation of two transmissions arranged symmetrically at the two ends of the control mechanism, said transmissions comprising shafts and connecting elements situated inside a profiled member arranged in the width of the cavity frame and having horizontal shafts to which spools are rigidly fixed, said spools being arranged at the two ends, i.e. the upper and lower ends respectively, of pairs of cables connected by bridge elements on which the slats rest. In each pair of cables, operation of the corresponding spools causes vertical translation of a first cable in one direction and vertical translation of the other cable in the opposite direction.
