An improved ceiling fan crossbar and canopy assembly allowing easy installation of the canopy without the need of any fastener or hand tool. The invention comprises a crossbar member, a canopy, at least one protrusion and corresponding receiving means, wherein the receiving means engages the protrusion and retains the canopy in place, obscuring the crossbar and the electric box that it attaches to from view. Some of the preferred embodiments employ an annular ring or a plurality of protrusions on the inner surface of the canopy and a corresponding groove or indentations on the crossbar to retain the canopy. Some other preferred embodiments employs spring tabs or spring buttons attached to the crossbar and a corresponding groove or holes on the inner surface of the canopy to achieve the same goal.
