A ceiling tile of gypsum and cellulose fibers formed into a board by initially mixing the fibers and gypsum in a water-based slurry that is felted and thereafter pressed and dried with a desired board thickness, the dried board being processed to form a plurality of holes in a face thereof through at least the. majority of the thickness of the board, the collective volume of the holes being sufficient to reduce the weight of the board by at least 10% and increase the NRC exhibited by the board over that which would otherwise be found in a board of the same composition without such holes.
L'invention concerne un carreau de plafond en gypse et en fibres de cellulose formé dans une planche par le mélange initial des fibres et du gypse dans une boue aqueuse qui est feutrée et par la suite pressée et séchée avec une épaisseur de planche souhaitée, la planche séchée étant traitée pour former une pluralité de trous dans une face de celle-ci à travers au moins l'essentiel de l'épaisseur de la planche, le volume collectif des trous étant suffisant pour réduire le poids de la planche d'au moins 10 % et augmenter le coefficient de réduction du bruit présenté par la planche par rapport à celui qui serait trouvé dans une planche de la même composition sans ces trous.
