Thienotriazolodiazepine compounds such as N-4-(4-chloro- phenyl)-2,3,9-trimethyl-6H-thieno[3,2-f][1,2,4]triazolo[4,3-a]- [1,4]diazepin-6-yl)-N'-(2-methoxyphenyl)urea, optically active compounds thereof, pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof and cell adhesion inhibitors comprising the compound as an active ingredient. The compound of the present invention has cell adhesion inhibitory effects and is expected to be useful as a preventive or therapeutic drug for various inflammatory diseases, allergic diseases, rheumatoid arthritis and so on, in which cell adhesion is involved in the onset and progress thereof. In addition, the compound of the present invention can be used for preventing or treating autoimmune diseases and graft rejection in organ transplantation, and for preventing metastasis of malignant cells. 61
