A cell culture growth substrate comprising a water soluble glass matrix adapted to sustain growth of living cells. Preferably the substrate comprises or is coated with living cells. The water- soluble glass is advantageously phosphate based and comprises glass fibres or finely comminuted particles. The invention also relates to the use of the growth substrate as an implant to replace or promote repair of damaged tissue in a patient and to a method to encourage growth of living tissue.
Un substrat de croissance destiné à des cultures de cellules comprend une matrice vitreuse soluble dans l'eau adaptée pour assurer la croissance de cellules vivantes. Le substrat comprend de préférence des cellules vivantes ou se trouve recouvert de cellules vivantes. Le verre soluble dans l'eau est préférablement à base de phosphate ou bien comprend des fibres de verre ou des particules finement divisées. L'invention concerne également l'utilisation du substrat de croissance en tant qu'implant permettant de remplacer ou de favoriser la réparation de tissus humains endommagés et un procédé de stimulation de la croissance de tissu vivant.
