The invention is directed to purified and isolated novel ULBP polypeptides, the nucleic acids encoding such polypeptides, processes for production of recombinant forms of such polypeptides, antibodies generated against these polypeptides, fragmented peptides derived from these polypeptides, and the uses of the above. ULBP polypeptide can be found on the surface of human B cell lymphomas. Mammalian forms of ULBP polypeptide in isolated or purified forms are provided. In addition, isolated nucleic acids encoding ULBP polypeptides and expression vectors comprising a cDNA encoding ULBP poypeptides are provided. The ULBP polypeptides can be isolated or synthesized and used to prepare antibodies, and in particular monoclonal antibodies, against the polypeptides. The antibodies, in turn, are useful for detecting the presence of ULBP polypeptides in human cell samples, which can be correlated with the existence of a malignant condition in a patient. ULBP polypeptides stimulate IFN-.gamma. production, NK cell proliferation, and CTL activity.
La présente invention concerne de nouveaux polypeptides ULBP purifiés et isolés, les acides nucléiques codant ces polypeptides, des procédés permettant de produire des formes recombinées de ces polypeptides, les anticorps générés contre ces polypeptides, des peptides fragmentés dérivés de ces polypeptides, et leurs utilisations. On trouve le polypeptide ULBP à la surface des lymphomes B humains. L'invention concerne des formes mammaliennes isolées ou purifiées du polypeptide ULBP. L'invention se rapporte en outre à des acides nucléiques isolés codant les polypeptides ULBP et à des vecteurs d'expression contenant un ADNc codant les polypeptides ULBP. Ces polypeptides ULBP peuvent être isolés ou synthétisés et utilisés pour préparer des anticorps, en particulier des anticorps monoclonaux, dirigés contre les polypeptides. Ces anticorps peuvent, à leur tour, être utilisés pour déceler la présence de polypeptides ULBP dans des prélèvements de cellules humaines, présence qui peut être mise en corrélation avec l'existence d'une affection maligne chez un patient. Les polypeptides ULBP stimulent la production d'interféron .gamma., la multiplication des cellules NK et l'activité des cellules T cytotoxiques.
