Voltage reversal in fuel cell stacks may be detected and/or prevented by monitoring each cell or small groups of cells in the stack for low voltage conditions. An improved cell voltage monitor (2) is constructed using a plurality of voltage monitoring units in which each unit comprises a heating resistor (Hi), a rectifier (Ri) in series therewith, and a sensing thermistor (STi) in thermal communication with the heating resistor. The heating resistor is electrically-connected across a cell or cells and heats the associated sensing thermistor in accordance with the voltage of the cell(s). Since the resistance of the sensing thermistor is indicative of its temperature and hence also of voltage of the cell(s), the sensing thermistor resistance can be used to signal a low voltage condition.
L'inversion de tension dans des empilements de cellules électrochimiques peut être détectée et/ou empêchée au moyen du contrôle de chaque cellule ou petit groupe de cellules dans l'empilement dans des conditions de basse tension. Un appareil de contrôle de tension de cellule amélioré est construit faisant appel à une pluralité d'unités de contrôle de tension, chacune contenant une résistante chauffante, un redresseur en série avec cette dernière et une thermistance en communication thermique avec la résistance chauffante. La résistance chauffante est connectée électriquement à travers une ou plusieurs cellules et chauffe la thermistance suivant la tension de la cellule (des cellules). Etant donné que la résistance de la thermistance est indicative de sa température et par là également de la tension de la cellule (des cellules), la thermistance peut être utilisée pour signaler une condition de basse tension.
