Method for diagnosing the risk of a human subject to develop chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) comprising the steps of: - providing a sample from a human subject, - determining the amount of CD4+CD28null T-cells in said sample, - diagnosing the risk to develop COPD when the amount of CD4+CD28null T-cells is reduced compared to the amount of CD4+CD28null T-cells in healthy human subjects.

Linvention concerne un procédé de diagnostic du risque de développement par un sujet humain de la bronchopneumopathie chronique obstructive (BPCO), qui comprend les étapes consistant à : - prélever un échantillon dun sujet humain, - déterminer la quantité de lymphocytes T CD4+CD28null dans ledit échantillon, - diagnostiquer le risque de développement de la BPCO lorsque la quantité de lymphocytes T CD4+CD28null est réduite en comparaison de la quantité de lymphocytes T CD4+CD28null chez les sujets humains en bonne santé.
