A cellular packet data arrangement includes an interface unit (NIU) (36) to a packet data network and link interface units (LIUs) (38, 40) each providing a channel (32) to a respective radio transceiver (18) for communicating data packets with mobile terminals (22) each having an individual identifier (TEI). Each LIU stores the TEI, channel number, and protocol data for communications with each terminal handled by the LIU. In response to a first LIU receiving a communication from a terminal whose communications have been on a channel handled by a second LIU, this is identified from the terminal's TEI not being stored (46) in the first LIU and being stored (44) in the NIU in respect of the second LIU, and the protocol data for the terminal is transferred from the second to the first LIU. To avoid a possible error condition, the first LIU can suppress a reply to the communication from the terminal until this is resent.
Cette invention se rapporte à un agencement de données en paquets cellulaire, qui comprend une unité d'interface (NIU) (36) établissant une interface avec un réseau de données en paquets, ainsi que des unités d'interface de liaison (LIU) (38, 40), fournissant chacune un canal (32) à un émetteur/récepteur radio correspondant (18) pour permettre la communication des paquets de données avec des terminaux mobiles (22), ayant chacun un identificateur individuel (TEI). Chaque LIU garde en mémoire le TEI, le numéro du canal et les données de protocole pour les communications avec chaque terminal géré par la LIU. En réponse à la réception par une première LIU d'une communication provenant d'un terminal dont les communications se sont établies sur un canal géré par une seconde LIU, cette réception est identifiée par le TEI du terminal qui ne se trouve pas dans la mémoire (46) de la première LIU mais dans la mémoire (44) de la NIU de la seconde LIU, et les données de protocole pour ce terminal sont transférées de la seconde à la première LIU. Pour éviter toute erreur éventuelle, la première LIU peut supprimer une réponse à la communiction provenant de ce terminal jusqu'à ce que cette communication soit réémise.
