ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Cellulose acetate fibers of improved water and organic solvent resistance. The fibers are prepared by mixing cellulose acetate containing free hydroxyl groups, in an acetone spinning solution, with from 2 to 20% by weight of an acetone-soluble methylolated guanamine polymer having at least one ??-CH2-?? linkage between guanamine molecules, a degree of polymerization of between 2 and 10 and between 30 and 80% of its free methylol groups alkylated with a 1 to 4 carbon atom alkyl group. Fibers are spun fro the solution and heat set in fiber or fabric form.
