ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A cellulosic filler for thermoplastic resins, which, when blended with thermoplastic resins followed by molding, can afford molded products free from deterio- ration in mechanical strength, stiffness, resistance to thermal deformation, etc., and a thermoplastic resin composition containing the same are provided, which cellulosic filler is a cellulosic filler heat-treated with glyoxal for thermoplastic resins, the quantity of glyoxal being preferably 0.5 to 12% by weight based on unreated cellulosic filler.
