Abstract Cellulosic materials such as paper are in- ternally sized by treating fibers of the cellulosic material, e.g., paper pulp, with a copolymer of an .alpha., .beta.-ethylenically unsaturated hydrophobic monomer and an ammoniated .alpha.,.beta.-etyhlenically unsaturated carboxylic acid, a reaction product of epihalohydrin and amine, rosin and alum. Internal sizing of the cellulosic material by this method can be carried out over complete range of pH.
