ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A moulding composition or spinning dope comprises 4.99 - 25% cellulose, 95 - 50% tertiary amine oxide, optionally up to 25% of a non-solvent and optionally up to 10% of other polymer(s), all by weight of the composition or dope, which composition or dope additionally comprises either at least one organic compound having at least 4 carbon atoms, at least two conjugated double bonds and at least two groups selected from hydroxyl and amino with at least one unsubstituted hydrogen atom, or glyceraldehyde, or both; the compositions contain only small amounts of low molecular weight degradation products.
