A method of applying a cement-free refractory castable to the surface of a refractory structure, comprising the steps of: a) preparing an intimately mixed refractory castable having alumina aggregate and a cement- free binder comprised of hydratable alumina; b) conveying the refractory castable under pressure through a delivery hose to a dispensing nozzle for applying the refractory castable; and c) adding a salt solution to the refractory castable prior to application by the nozzle at a rate wherein the salt solution comprises about 0.2 % to 0.9 % by weight of the refractory castable applied by the dispensing nozzle.
Un procédé permettant d'appliquer un béton réfractaire sans ciment sur la surface d'une structure réfractaire comprend les étapes suivantes: a) On prépare un béton réfractaire mélangé de manière intime contenant un granulat d'alumine et un liant sans ciment constitué d'alumine hydratable, on envoie le béton réfractaire sous pression par un tuyau d'apport à une buse de distribution servant à appliquer le béton réfractaire; et, c) on ajoute une solution de sel au béton réfractaire avant son application au moyen de la buse suivant une proportion telle que la solution de sel constitue entre 0,2 % et 0,9 % en poids du béton réfractaire appliquée par la buse de distribution.
