The invention relates to center conductor receptacles for coaxial cable center conductors. The invention seeks to solve the problem of providing a secure conductive contact between a coaxial cable center conductor and the center conductor receptacle into which it is inserted. The invention is a center conductor receptacle that has an open end for the insertion of the center conductor and a hollow interior cavity within which the center conductor sits, wherein at least one portion of the wall that defines the interior cavity is closer to the longitudinal axis of the receptacle than are other portions of the wall. The invention solves the stated problem because the closer portion of the interior wall makes a stress contact with the inserted center conductor, thereby enhancing the contact between it and the interior wall.
