Abstract A centering mechanism for use with an adjustable control member has an elongated member and a shaft member with opposing flat portions formed thereon and a bore extending therethrough. The elongated member is positioned within the bore of the shaft member to loosely support the shaft member thereon for limited rotation about an axis that is normal to the axis of the elongated member. First and second plates are each loosely disposed on the elongated member in embracing relation to the flat portions on the shaft member. These plates are biased towards embracing engagement with the flat portions, permitting movement of the plates away from each other during rotation of the shaft member.
