A central axis water turbine is described which comprises a turbine body having a central axis; a rotor mounted on the turbine body for rotation about the central axis, the rotor comprising a central hub supporting a plurality of blades, each blade extending from a blade root mounted on the hub to a blade tip; a generator driven by the rotor; and a housing surrounding the rotor and adapted to direct water flow towards the rotor, the housing converging from a front opening forward of the rotor to a nar-rower throat adjacent the turbine body; wherein the blades are splayed rearward from the blade root to the blade tip by a tilt angle of 1° to 20° from a plane perpendicular to the central axis.

La présente invention concerne une turbine à eau à axe central comportant un corps de turbine ayant un axe central ; un rotor monté sur le corps de turbine pour être entraîné en rotation autour de laxe central, le rotor comprenant un moyeu central surmonté dune pluralité daubes, chaque aube sétendant depuis une emplanture daube montée sur le moyeu jusquà une extrémité daube ; un générateur entraîné par le rotor ; et un carter entourant le rotor et apte à diriger le flux deau vers le rotor, le carter convergent depuis une ouverture frontale à lavant du rotor jusquà une gorge plus étroite adjacente au corps de turbine. Les aubes sont évasées vers larrière depuis lemplanture daube jusquà lextrémité daube par un angle compris entre 1° et 20° depuis un plan perpendiculaire à laxe central.
