P8195S01 ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A system for accepting orders from requestors located in a plurality of independent geographical regions for a plurality of items that are stocked in a plurality of local stores in respective predetermined arrangements, in which the local stores are located in the plurality of independent geographical regions. The item arrangements can be coded in accordance with product group identifiers, in order to facilitate mapping of the stores by item group, and subsequently minimize order selection time by an item selector. A respective requestor is assigned to one of the plurality of local stores. The requestors communicate their orders to a central order taking facility, which arranges each of the orders so that they correspond to a respective predetermined arrangement that corresponds to the mapping of items in a local store in a respective geographical region assigned to the respective requestor.
