ABSTRACT In a train, the passage from one linked car to the others is enclosed by passage protector which contains a totally closed centre portal secured in relation to the car so as to be laterally moveable against it. The centre portal is such that the required firmness of the seal in the presence of pressure and the protection against the environment, are constants, inasmuch as sealing and cushioning are separate functions within the sealing system.
