A B S T R A C T This invention provides means for separating a fluid from contaminates comprising an outer shell which may be a pressure vessel having mounted within it an outer drum and an inner drum which rotate together creating centrifugal force on any fluids which are caused to flow through the apparatus, thereby causing separation according to density. A shelf, mounted between the inner and outer drum, creates a shallow stream of heavier fluids capable of carrying contaminate particles such as sand. Means as provided to draw off contaminating fluids or solids such as water or sand from the mainstream such as oil.
