ABSTRACT A centrifugal slurry pump includes wear resistant inserts (62, 64) on the wear faces of the front impeller shroud (56) and the wear face (98) of the front pump housing in the impeller chamber (38). The preferred embodiment provides hardened ceramic material inserts (62, 64) mounted in compression.
