In a previously known centrifugal separator the centrifuge rotor has two axially separated end walls (1, 2) and one surrounding wall (3) situated axially between the end walls (1, 2), the end walls and a stack of separation discs (12) within the centrifuge rotor being kept axially together by means of a central fastening means (9) separate from the surrounding wall (3). The invention resides in the feature that the surrounding wall (3) is formed separate from both of the end walls (1, 2) and is axially movable during rotor operation relative to at least one of these end walls. Furthermore, the surrounding wall (3) should have a smaller inner diameter in both of the areas in which it seals against the end walls (1, 2) than it has in an area situated axially between these areas.

Dans un séparateur centrifuge antérieur, le rotor centrifuge comporte deux parois terminales (1, 2) séparées axialement, et une paroi périphérique (3) située axialement entre les parois terminales (1, 2), les parois terminales et une pile de disques de séparation (12) situées dans le rotor centrifuge, étant maintenues axialement ensemble à l'aide d'un moyen de fixation central (9) séparé de la paroi périphérique (3). L'invention est caractérisée en ce que la paroi périphérique (3) est séparée des deux parois terminales (1, 2), et est mobile axialement pendant le fonctionnement du rotor par rapport à au moins une de ces parois terminales. En outre, la paroi périphérique (3) doit avoir un diamètre intérieur plus petit dans les deux zones dans lesquelles il assure une étanchéité contre les parois terminales (1, 2), que dans la zone située axialement entre ces zones.
