ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Crystalline cephalexin hydrochloride monohydrate, a useful antibiotic, can be prepared by the hydration of novel crystalline cephalexin hydrochloride C1-4 alkanol solvates. The crystalline cephalexin hydrochloride C1-4 alkanol solvates are prepared by adding an excess of hydrogen chloride or hydrochloric acid to a suspension in a C1-4 alkanol of cephalexin hydrate.
