There are described compounds of the formula (see fig. I) wherein R1 is amino or protected amino, R2 is lower alkyl or lower alkenyl, R3 is lower alkyl, hydroxy(lower)alkyl or protected hydroxy(lower)alkyl, R4 is amino, protected amino, lower alkylamino, protected lower alkylamino, carboxy-(lower)alkylamino, N-[protected carboxy(lower)alkyl]amino and R7 is hydrogen or lower alkyl, and a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. Process for the preparation of these compounds, pharmaceutical composition comprising same, as well as a method of treating infectious diseases in human beings and animals using these compounds are also described.
