CERAMIC COMPONENT FOR MHD ELECTRODE ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION A ceramic component which exhibits electrical conduc- tivity down to near room temperatures has the formula: HfxInyAzO2 where x = 0.1 to 0.4, y = 0.3 to 0.6, z = 0.1 to 0.4 and A is a lanthanide rare earth or yttrium. The component is suitable for use in the fabrication of MHD electrodes or as the current leadout portion of a composite electrode with other ceramic components.
