A ceramic discharge lamp and a method of making the lamp includes a ceramic discharge chamber with two concave parts that are attached to each other at a seam, and a ceramic reflector directly attached to an exterior surface of the discharge chamber at the seam, or directly attached to a ceramic capillary that is attached to one of the two concave parts. The lamp finds particular application where focused light is required, such as injection of light into a fiber optic device. The lamp can be very small and has an advantage that the discharge chamber is isolated from the reflective surfaces so that the optically active parts of the reflector are not covered with salt from the preferred metal halide lamp fill.
La présente invention concerne une lampe à décharge en céramique et son procédé de fabrication. La lampe comprend une chambre à décharge en céramique ayant deux parties concaves assemblées au niveau d'un joint linéaire, ainsi qu'un réflecteur en céramique directement fixé à une surface extérieure de la chambre à décharge au niveau du joint, ou directement fixé à un tube capillaire en céramique rattaché à une des deux parties concaves. La lampe trouve une application particulière lorsqu'une lumière focalisée est nécessaire, par exemple pour une injection de lumière dans un dispositif à fibre optique. La lampe peut être très petite et possède un avantage en ce sens que la chambre à décharge est isolée des surfaces réfléchissantes, de sorte que les parties optiquement actives du réflecteur ne sont pas recouvertes de sel provenant de l'atmosphère gazeuse de la lampe aux halogénures métalliques préférée.
