ABSTRACT A simulated log 10 is for use in a gas fire. The log 10 consists of a first body 12 and a second body 14, attached together. The second body 14 is an insert in the first body 12. The first body 12 is of a first type of ceramic material, such as slip cast material. The second body 14 is of a second type of ceramic material, such as ceramic fibre. When the log is positioned in the flame of a gas fire, the ceramic fibre insert will glow more strongly than the main body of the log by virtue of the differences in materials. This gives an improved simulation of a real fire.
